The Independence day of Republic of Armenia
20 years ago armenian people voted for their independence and division from Soviet Union.That was the greatest time for armenian people,because our nation had waited for It for a long time.It was also very difficult period for us, because the north part of RA was damaged after earthquake in Spitak and it was a war time.War for liberty and Independenc of Artsakh from Azerbayjan.
20 years have passed since that day and during this time, Armenia has managed to overcome the difficulties and embark on a path of development. Today we have 20 years old republic.
Republic of Armenia!!!!

23 June I’ve done with my last exam and started to prepare for upcoming trip in a day. Documentsare ready, all the arrangements are done, luggage is packed, this evening I will just buy some gifts for myhost AIESECers mmmmm excited .. 6 hours left,5 less than 3..We are on the way to airport. MyAIESEC friends were there to see me off Arman (+my golden partner at U! COM), Gevik (The little BIGman with even bigger heart Won’t see him again when I’ll be back, it’s a bit sad) and of course mybeloved MCP Sargis. Love you guys . So I left to spread positive impact.

Couple of amazing hours were spent at Prague with another Exchange Participant Tatevik,we simply call her Chalikyan.Talking about expectations ,some fears, plans we even didn’t notice how AIESEC brings really different people closer.That’s amazing…

Budapest- Nove Zamky train …Haha nobody speaks either English or Russian or at least Armenian Despite the tiredness and heaviness of luggages I am full of emotions and curiosity whom I’m going tomeet and what is OVECHKA? 02:00 a.m NOVE ZAMKY (the place I will never ever forget) train station, whohoooo AHOOOJ SLOVENSKOOO

A night spent at train station’s officer ‘’workplace’’ was a good Introduction to Slovakia stage. The kindest man was telling about Slovak traditions, families. I’ve even helped myself with some Slovak sweets. Forgot to say I got out at the wrong station and had to wait for another train in the morning. But what is it for an AIESECer? It’s even not a challenge.
Katarina (LCP of my host LC Nitra) and one of their EPs Olga spent a night at Bratislava streets waiting for me at the same time. Sorry girls. Finally I met AIESECers thanks God I am safe.

Arman's AIESEC Story

Hello, everyone!

I am Arman, currently the Local Committee President of AIESEC Yerevan. I’m 19 and I study Management at ASUE.

I joined AIESEC in April, 2010. I wanted to get something bigger than my everyday doings and university... something more international, more useful, to get more skills, more friends... And luckily AIESEC was just what I needed, cause it changed my life dramatically.

First I was inducted to AIESEC, during which I met our Exchange Participants from different countries like Brazil, Latvia etc. Then we had the National Congress 2010, one of the four largest conferences AIESEC in Armenia organizes yearly. There I got plenty of practical ideas and skills about management, team work, presentation and communication skills, I made new friends and a big network.

After the conference my work started in the Outgoing Exchange team, where I contributed my effort and got extraordinarily amazing skills for over a year. And apart from that, I am happy to have been involved in the Organizing Committees of another two massive and international conferences of AIESEC in Armenia: Exchange Motivation Aspiration Seminar 2010 and National Leadership Development Seminar 2011.

Still this is just the beginning: my term as a Local Committee President still lies before me and there are still hundreds of things to do, hundreds of things to learn.

And having been through all this I can definitely say that AIESEC is more than just about volunteering. AIESEC is about people!

IC 2011 in Numbers

63rd International Congress. It seems unbelievable, but this event is in its 63rd edition. More than sixty years after the inaugural conference in Stockholm, which gave birth to AIESEC itself, the leaders that this organization continues to create still gather to bring the world a little bit closer, the discussion a little bit further, our vision a little bit more achievable.

10 days. The congress will last for 10 days, from 20th to 29th August and it will take place in the MMU Hotel and Conference Centre, in Nairobi. Standing metres from Nairobi National Park, the delegates of AIESEC International Congress will have a full agenda of discussion plenaries, corporate launches, along with the free times to network and build bridges between different countries.

500 delegates. The main purpose of the Congress is to gather the leadership of the organization and, with that, to gather the organization itself. Despite our dispersion around the world, we are still a single organization with a single vision and the presence of all these people in the conference is the best way to keep our focus while enhancing our global platform.

50 000 virtual participants. The AIESEC world is much larger than the group that will come together in Kenya. There are thousands of national and local leaders as well as members that don’t have the chance to be physically present at the conference. That’s why we open the event to more than 50 000 people through the Internet – there are no excuses to miss this.

100 alumni. What we are today is, more than an effort of the present leaders, a result of the former members. That’s why we bring our alumni to this huge global meeting. Hrayr's AIESEC Story

Hello, my name is Hrayr. I'm 19 years old. I study in SEUA (Polytechnic) on the 3-rd course in department of Radiotechnology.

About AIESEC I know from my friend Rafael. He also studies in Polytechnic but in another department.

My first interaction with AIESEC was an NLDS 2011 (National Leadership Development Seminar) conference in Tsakhkadzor.

Rafael was an OCP (Organization Committee President).

After that I became an AIESEC friend. It's not a role or something like that, it's nothing.

I didn't understand what is AIESEC at all, therefore I wouldn't like to be part of AIESEC, to be AIESEC member and so on.

Whereupon I became an OC teamster of NatCo 2011. The name of my position was Logistics.

The responsible person of this position must do all logistical preparation for the whole conference. You can think I'm crazy,cause I did this work without being an AIESECer. But...

It was my first XP (Experience) in AIESEC. Actually those 4 days of the conference have changed my life. It was like a magic. I can't convey my impressions you must feel it yourselves.

Then I became an AIESEC member, and currently I am working in OGX (Outgoing Exchange) team, being happy and proud as I am an AIESECer!!!!!!!!!!

When Gor said me to write an interesting story about AIESEC and my AIESEC eXperience , all my AIESEC life pass through my eyes.
I remember first day I enter AIESEC office (I remember even the time J). I will never forget this magic planet and everything concerning this wonderful world.
I spent a lot of days in AIESEC … there were FuNNy, CraZy, fanTasTic, EasY,HaPPy…each of them gave me something special, that I can use all my life. I want to add that, days in AIESEC are full of emotions, motivation, ideas, challenges, friendship, inventions, innovations, LIFE…
When I was new in AIESEC I heard a lot from eXperienced AIESECers that AIESEC is something special in their life. I heard a lot the following sentences “You love AIESEC like your own baby” “You pass lots of your time in AIESEC or doing AIESEC work” (P.S. I remember the authors but….will not say J)

At that time I can’t understand how, yes HOW???? How one can be in AIESEC instead of spent a good time with family or relatives. Now I perfectly UNDERSTAND the full meaning of that words. Now I’m one of them. Now AIESEC is part of my live. BIG PART. Now I can miss some meetings with family members, relatives or friends being busy in AIESEC. Even this year I was the last guest in my Dad Bday party J. Maybe now some of you can’t understand me or think that I’m crazy….It’s ok and usual but it means that you aren’t an AIESCcer.
Do you want to know what gave me AIESEC during this period and why I love AIESEC sooo much?...ok…I will answer…
First I want to say –after knowing AIESEC, it’s impossible not to love AIESEC. Sooo what gave me AIESEC. It is very difficult to write all I got from AIESEC. It’ll last some days. But one thing I will say – AIESEC helps me to feel the REAL LIFE.. with REAL friends, with REAL fun, with REAL opportunities, with REAL challenges ….
I think for understanding what can AIESEC gives to you, you should deal with AIESEC. No one can say all she/he gets from AIESEC by words
WE (AIESECers) know each other, Love each other WE ARE HAPPY WITH EACH OTHER.

NLDS 2011 Claudia Granada

I had the chance to come to National Leadership Development Seminar 2011 in AIESEC Armenia last February. I must admit that all I knew about this @ country then was 2 people: Sona, a previous Member Commite President and influent alumni, and Hovhannes, with whom I had been working since a few months back.

So Armenia, before as after, was all about its people. That impression did not change, but I got to know a little bit more after coming. I learnt how much warmth one can get on a snowy day, how food overcomes language barriers and that we learn best with each other, by giving and receiving.

Armenia unleashed new emotional and professional sides in me at the same time, it gave an incredible challenge, a new experience to learn from in AIESEC and an amazing network of talented, warm-hearted and ambitious Armenian young women and men.

It left such a strong impression that for me Armenia is now a country I recommend even though I spent there less than a week and have not really visited all the typical places. I recommend this place, this home, because of its vibrant people and because of its rich and generous culture. Because it became a place I want to go back to visit with more time.

Team finds synergy in diversity as AIESEC Kenya hosts global youth congress

Kenya is hosting one of the biggest events of young people from all over the world, in a week-long celebration of cultural diversity, mentorship and life-changing discussions.
AIESEC will host over 600 young leaders from over 110 countries, as well as the top management from over 50 companies. The global event will kick-off on 20th August with different nationalities showcasing their cultural diversity at KICC from 2pm.
The International Congress, which includes discussions on global issues, business summits and forums is an annual international meeting of AIESEC delegates organized by the world's largest student-run organisation, where cultural and professional exchange contributes to the vision of peace and fulfillment of humankind's potential.
The event is quite special for Kenya, especially for AIESEC Kenya considering Kenya will be the second country in Africa privileged to host the International Congress in its 62 year history. This year's conference will focus on the change agent role that high potential youth play in business and society. As you can imagine, organising an event of this scale and magnitude is no simple task. From raising funds, marketing, logistics, hospitality to the special events; all handled by a members of AIESEC from different countries across the world.

We met a few of the 80 + team members behind the organisation and planning of the conference. 54 of the team members have been working and living from their 'command centre' in a nondescript residential house in Ongata Rongai. It is convenient since Multi Media University will be the venue of the congress. The team leaders have been in Kenya for the last one year, while most of their team members joined them three months ago.
Once in a lifetime opportunity
Peter from Botswana quit his job as Operations Manager back home to take up the role of team leader of the Business team. He says his stay in Kenya for the last one year has been an eye-opener in terms of the cultural adaptation and pushing forward his core objective of bringing on board corporates and the business sector as partners and sponsors.
“I can definitely say it is worth it. I have learnt so much and discovered my potential in leadership,” says Peter. “Botswana has a population of 1.4 million but has a larger land mass. Seeing so many people in Kenya and the faster pace of life was something that I have had to adapt to,” adds Peter.
The selection process of the team leaders was both rigorous and competitive. A panel of corporate managers and senior staff from different companies interviewed candidates for the posts.
Freyja from Iceland had to fill a 20-page application form including an essay and a list of achievements during her tenure at AIESEC Iceland and New Zealand.
“I then had two phone interviews as a follow-up to the application. After two weeks, I was told I had qualified for the post,” says Freyja.
For Freyja, and for most of the members from different countries, the Matatu (public transport) culture in Kenya has been one of the areas that they had to adapt most. With the speeds, haggling of prices and almost chaotic way of ferrying passengers, it’s a learning experience for most.
For Ana, who is from Croatia, security was one of her major concerns but after staying for a few months, she now says Kenya is relatively safe, though bargaining with vendors in the market is something she hasn’t been able to do quite well.
Ana is part of the team that is charged with organizing the Business Summit which is part of the Congress.
The Business summit will be held from 27-29th August at MMU, and entails the Business Forum - a series of workshops revolving around East Africa's business and investment potential. The Alumni Meeting, which will follow the business forum will have sessions of alumni interacting with Aiesecer's and also discussions on how alumni members are changing their environment.

Me and Mayis went to the Arzni, Conference venue, at night 01:00 o'clock from Aghveran, where we were helping our Exchange Participants from Brazil, Poland and Latvia, with their project. That day, was National Congress 2010 Conference team Pre-meeting day in Venue. When we entered into Venue, the Organizing Commiteе members were tired, busy, sleepy and a bit nervous. Some of them were playing and some of them working. I was partially involved in Organizing Committee team as an External Relations member.The Organizing Commiteе President, Ruben, was moving from one place to another so fast and serious. haha :)

Next day, in the evening, we were trying to imagine that it is already 2015, and tried to imagine AIESEC in Armenia at that time. I was playing a role of President of AIESEC International. That was really fun!!! We recorded a video.
At night, after party, when I was trying to enter my room, at 03:00 o'clock, my roommate was sleeping. Of course, he was newly recruited AIESECer, and closed the door. I was knocking 10 minutes, but no way. Then, I saw Organizing Committee members, going to sleep at 04:00 o'clock, and slept in OC room. BTW The same thing happened the next day! hehe ;)

The conference played a crucial role in my further AIESEC career. When I saw an AIESEC structure, I realized the importance of being an Local committee president as to develop the Local committee and as to have a positive impact on society, I definitely decided to apply for Local committee president and Lead a Local Committee. I was thinking, that this role is more challenging and important position to develop my leadership potential. Later I applied for Local committee president and Now, being an Local committee president, I am convinced and can say that it's TRUE.

After coming back to Yerevan, Decided to be the one at National Congress, who will stand on the stage and cry...

National Congress 2010 was my 3rd conference in AIESEC and also my first facilitator experience. What motivates me most in NatCo is the fact that it
combines not only learning and fun, but also planning. Minute by
minute you create a vision for yourself and your organization for the
next term, thus feeling ownership for whatever you have written. This
experience is really challenging and amazing. Being a rather smaller
conference compared to other AIESEC conferences, NatCo is on the top
with its coziness and warmth. Undoubtedly, NatCo was and will remain
the HOTTEST conference in AIESEC Armenia.
